  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 package pie crusts (2 crusts)
  • vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Peel and slice the apples, then toss them with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and flour.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish.
  4. Fill with the apple mixture and dot with butter.
  5. Cover with the second pie crust, crimp edges, and cut slits for steam to escape.
  6. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
