Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients; mix well.
  4. Slowly add boiling water to the batter, mixing until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter between prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  6. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
