  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and sausage, cooking until browned.
  4. Add garlic, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the mozzarella. Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish, followed by noodles, and then cheese mixture. Repeat layers.
  6. Top with remaining meat sauce and mozzarella. Sprinkle grated Parmesan on top.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, let it cool for 15 minutes before serving.
