  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk for glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth, and drizzle over the bread.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add lemon zest to the batter.
  • This bread is best served fresh but can be stored for a couple of days.
