Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

A hearty dish combining turkey bacon, red beans, and rice, perfect for any comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup red beans
  • 1 cup rice
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook the turkey bacon until crisp. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, add onions and garlic; sauté until softened.
  3. Add red beans, rice, chicken broth, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with chopped turkey bacon.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, omit bacon.
  • Leftovers can be reheated.
